The federal government has declared Saturday, September 6, 2025, a public holiday in observance of Eid Miladun Nabi (12th Rabiul Awwal) and Pakistan’s Defence Day.

A notification issued by the Cabinet Division confirmed the holiday, aligning with the announcement of the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee, which had earlier declared that the Rabiul Awwal moon was not sighted, placing the 12th of Rabiul Awwal on September 6 this year.

Eid Miladun Nabi marks the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), a day of religious significance observed across the Muslim world. Alongside this, the nation will commemorate Pakistan’s 60th Defence Day, paying tribute to the sacrifices of the country’s armed forces and martyrs in the 1965 war.

Mosques, government buildings, and public spaces are expected to be illuminated for Eid Miladun Nabi, while special prayers, rallies, and remembrance ceremonies for Defence Day will be held nationwide.

This year’s observance combines spiritual devotion with national pride, as the country reflects both on its faith and its history of resilience.
