Tel Aviv — An Israeli security source has revealed to Al Arabiya TV and Al Hadath that Israel is preparing for a large-scale and powerful strike against Yemen, signaling a dangerous escalation in the ongoing regional conflict.

This disclosure follows claims by Yemen’s Houthi movement that they targeted Israel’s Ramon Airport with drones. The Houthis further stated that strikes hit multiple locations, including Eilat, Ashkelon, Ashdod, and even Tel Aviv. Israeli authorities confirmed that a Houthi drone crashed in southern Israel, lightly injuring one person. Emergency services also verified the incident. Initial investigations indicated that the drone was mistakenly logged as “non-hostile” before impact.

Earlier on Sunday, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced that three Houthi drones had been intercepted, two of which were destroyed before entering Israeli airspace. The rising frequency of these attacks underscores a widening front in Israel’s conflict, which began in October 2023 following Hamas’ unprecedented assault.

Strategic Warnings and Houthi Defiance

Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz had already issued stern warnings to the Houthis last week, as the Iran-backed group escalated missile and drone operations. The Houthis, in turn, declared that they would intensify their strikes on Israel. Their attacks extend beyond land targets, often targeting commercial vessels in the Red Sea, which they claim are linked to Israel. According to them, these actions are in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.

The latest escalation comes after Israeli airstrikes in Yemen killed the Houthi-appointed Prime Minister and 11 senior leaders in Sana’a. Analysts warn that the forthcoming Israeli strike could be the most decisive yet, potentially reshaping the regional conflict.

For months, Israel has retaliated by striking Houthi command centers, installations, and infrastructure deep within Yemen. However, security experts believe the next operation may mark a significant turning point, intensifying both the scope and consequences of the conflict.
